5 Fandom Friday: Black Friday Purchases I Would Lose a Night of Sleep Over

I did a lot of shopping this year, but almost none of it was at an actual store! I’ve become a pro at online Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping, which means I can just stay up late (I’m a night owl anyway) and hang out in my pajamas. I’m definitely not a crowd person, and I absolute abhor lines (they’re just a bunch of people in my way), so internet shopping is definitely my thing.

One thing that certainly helped me to avoid the crowds was that my #1 thing I wanted to buy was available at Black Friday prices starting on Wednesday. Since there was nothing that I would lose a night of sleep over, though, I’m giving you my list of my favorite things that I bought in Black Friday sales.

1. Nintendo Wii U with Mario 3D World, Nintendo Land, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, and Super Smash Bros. Wii U.

This was available at Best Buy and on the website, and I decided to spoil myself since I’ve been having such an utterly crappy semester. Nintendo didn’t seem to be into the Black Friday thing this year, so this was by far the best offer I’ve seen. There are so many games I’ve been wanting to play on the Wii U, and I’m glad I finally have it!

2. Nintendo amiibos

I got a couple of these to go with my new Super Smash Bros. game! I love the designs of these Amiibos, and I can’t wait to get more. I really wanted Marth, but it seems like its all sold out everywhere. I’m going to be quick to jump up and get the others I want as they’re released–Sheik, Ike, Zelda, Toon Link, and Pit. Zelda and Pit are up first in December!

3. Loot Crate’s Special Rebels and Rogues Crate!

This is actually the thing that took the most effort to get. I had to stay up until 2am (it went on sale at midnight PT), and I kept refreshing the page so I could buy it as soon as it came up. And it was a good thing that I decided to do this–the crate sold out in minutes. It has a guaranteed $100 retail value, and was sold for $400. Also, some crates have special extra limited edition pieces. I was thrilled that I was able to snag one! I also bought the Black Friday edition Nerd Block, and I can’t wait to see what items come in it. It’s not going to be as cool as the R&R crate, though, because it’s not a special edition.

4. Fabric and Notions!

I considered buying a lot from Spandex World this year, but their 12% discount wasn’t enough at this point in time. I’d rather play full price with no minimum for the discount at a later point. However, Jo-Ann’s had a pretty good sale (25% off your total order, plus I had a few 50% off a full-priced item coupons, and a lot of things on sale in general), so I picked up some things. I bought three fabrics for cosplay, one for clothing, a new rotary cutter, and a bunch of different sizes of elastic.

5. Circle Lenses!

I was a little disappointed that Pinky Paradise’s 50% off sale only included about 12 pairs of lenses, but I was able to get some that I wanted. Bleez and Impa (two costumes I’m doing next year) have red eyes, and I was able to get red lenses (though they didn’t go up to my full prescription…). I also bought gray lenses, because I’ve always wanted them and they were 50% off! I’m sure I’ll cosplay a character with gray eyes someday. I wanted to replace my green lenses, but none of the ones available at the discount were bright enough for my Enchantress costume, so I didn’t do it in the end.

What did you buy this Black Friday? Is there anything that you missed and were bummed about? What was your greatest score? Did you actually buy any gifts? (I bought…one). Share in the comments!
